Dear Friends of Mongolian Wetlands!
Dear partners of ABC SDG and everyone who cares!
The group of brilliant, brave, strong, motivated, and devoted children would like to share their stories with you about how they are working to save Mongolia’s wetlands.
The meeting took place on 21 March 2026 both: on-site and via Zoom.
Participants learned what was done during the Youth Volunteer Camps in 2025.
Tatiana and Nandin said a couple of words why and how we are restoring wetlands in Mongolia, and how volunteers are helping to carry out surveys and monitoring.
Volunteers talked about their work following the workflow:
- Erdem will told us how he was using a drone to support vegetation mapping.
- Naran shared the secret of how the land classes get the characteristics of vegetation cover and why mushrooms are significant.
- Lisa was responsible for estimating how much biomass is produced in these ecosystems, and she shared how that can be calculated.
- Grigory presented how he helped to describe the wide range of soil characteristics and why it is significant for the prediction of greenhouse gas emissions.
- And fromUji we learned how we can check directly what the greenhouse gas emissions are from the peatlands before and after restoration.
And of course, all children shared stories about their field experiences, new impressions, and unforgettable moments.
