Seminar on our volunteer camps in Mongolia from 2019 – 2023.
On February 15th, ABC SDG hosted a hybrid seminar, both on-site and remote, focusing on our volunteer camps in Mongolia from 2019 – 2023. We also provided information about the three camps planned for 2025. Participants shared their personal experiences from past volunteer camps in Mongolia, highlighting their contributions to conservation efforts within Mongolian herder communities. These camps also emphasized the value of international cooperation and the mutual understanding fostered between different cultures. On this day in 1971, in an Iranian town named Ramsar, representatives of 18 countries signed a document that received the short name “Ramsar Convention on Wetlands” and the full title “Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, especially as Waterfowl Habitat.” This convention is one of the oldest environmental agreements but is very modern in its concepts, organization, and implementation. Currently, 172 countries have joined the convention. While this is a significant achievement, it is not necessarily a cause for daily celebration. Seminar “Impressions from previous volunteer camps in Mongolia and introduction into volunteer camp 2025”
On February 15th, 2025, at 11 am, ABC SDG invites you to participate in the seminar about our volunteer camps in Mongolia. We will give you insights about our previous volunteer camps and tell you about our upcoming work, and we would be glad to answer your questions. The seminar will be in a mixed format — by Zoom and in person in the ABC SDG house in Görlitz. Please fill in the registration form, and we will send you a Zoom link or instructions on how to find us in Görlitz and what the accommodation options are.
Spring Mongolia volunteer camp announcement
We announce registration to the Spring volunteer camp in Mongolia that will take place on May 23 – June 5 (9). The camp will not exceed ten people. The main topic is introducing gardening and fruit tree planting as an alternative income for local herders. The areas of our work are Nomgoon, Khashaat, Kharkharin (May 23 – June 5) and the additional site – Uliastay (June 6-8).
Summer Mongolia volunteer camp announcement
We open registration for the Summer volunteer camp in Mongolia that will take place on July 6 (12) – July 30. The camp can host 15-20 people, including young people from Mongolia. The main topic of the summer camp is surveying and monitoring to plan new restoration activities and evaluate the success of earlier restoration efforts. The areas of our work are Nomgoon, Khashaat, and Kharkharin (July 12 – July 30) and the additional site – Mungmorit, before the main camp – (July 6-12).
Autumn Mongolia volunteer camp announcement
When you prefer autumn travel – please register for the Autumn volunteer camp that will take place on September 5 – September 20. September is already a cold time of the year. We are working at sites where we can have shelter during unfriendly weather. We start in Mungmorit site (September 5-10) and go on in the Khurkh site (September 10 – 19). We have a chance to help Mongolian researchers in the Khurkh Research Station with a wide range of studies, including bird ringing, migration species monitoring, GHG research using eddy-covariance and chambers, permafrost monitoring.
